Black wheat a nutraceutical ( much more nutrious than normal wheat) product. It is very effective for lifestyle disorders like diabets, inflammatory disorders and obesity.  It has the capacity to cure health issues like cancer and diabetes. It helps to manage blood cholesterol level ( heart related disease)and  also helpful in stress. 

Black wheat has been patented after 7 years of research by the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) Mohali. This wheat is named 'Nabi MG' 

Anthocyanins are the pigments that determine the colours of fruits and vegetables. Black wheat contains pigment Anthocyanins which are very well known antioxidants. Due to different levels of anthocynin, colour of wheat are black, blue and purple. 

Normal wheat has a 5ppm concentration of anthocyanin, whereas black wheat is reported to have around 100-200ppm of anthocyanin. This makes black wheat, scientifically, a healthier option.

Normal and black wheat have the same  the amount of protein, nutrients and starch but different in levels of zinc and iron.  Black wheat have around 60 per cent more iron concentration than normal wheat.  
The amount of zinc is also high in this new type of wheat.
